Presentation on the hardrock department. DVD, papersleeves and How The West Was Won.

Bought the DVD/CD on Friday May 23th at the store where i work. Quite hectic, as we had a special screening organised for readers of a well known Dutch music magazine called Aloha. The evening was scheduled to start at 20.00, but the special courier from the central warehouse of Warner Europe in Germany arrived at 19.30. Rush, rush and a lot of stress to get the product stickered, saved etc. (250 DVD/ 100 HTWWW). We had special permission to sell a few days before the release date, however we had to pull the DVD out of the shop to start selling it again on Tuesday 27th. You can't describe the feeling when i pressed the play button of the DVD player and Bonzo's drumming and the start of 'We're Gonna Groove' were blasting through the speakers. Fellow workers checked on me from time to time if everything was OK. Invited people started to show
up but i didn't even notice them. Except for a guy named Ben, who i invited to the screening. We spend the whole evening just staring at the screen, with a beer/white wine never to far away and an occasional conversation about what we just saw. Everything was a total blast. We watched till Knebworth because the store was scheduled to be open till 22.00. No critisism here, just highpoints. At home i rushed to the DVD player to continue watching, checking all the 'hidden' stuff (and more, and again, and more).

Some random thoughts;
~The sound clarity of Earl's Court.
~In the menus, 'Dazed & Confused' (snippet) with sound and vision from Iceland.
~In the menus again, load of from aeroplane, again from Iceland, with a somewhat confused looking Jimmy Page.
~Bonzo in every single shot !
~The mountain of film cans...what's more in the vaults ??
~The use of well known bootleg footage with improved picture quality.
~Backstage MSG 1973 with very polite police officers.
~The incredible interest from collegues from who i thought were not entirely Led Zeppelin minded, from classical, world music, dance and other departments.
~The only letdown at the moment is the lack of 'plantations' on 'HTWWW'.
~As described on TBL, the coming of age through the years.
~'The Ocean' from MSG.
~The acoustic set from Earl's Court.
~'Dazed & Confused' from HTWWW, especially the 'Walter's Walk' sequence, followed by some "The Crunge' riffs and rhythms.
~'Since I've Been Loving You' and 'Stairway To Heaven' from HTWWW

Have scored one of the promo Zeppelins, very nice.

Top ten from the DVD at this moment;
~Bonzo's intro and 'Were Gonna Groove' from RAH.
~'White Summer/Black Mountain Side' from RAH.
~'Moby Dick' from RAH.
~Menu footage from Finland, airport & 'Dazed & Confused'.
~Tous En Scene footage.
~'The Ocean' from MSG.
~Menu footage backstage at MSG.
~Acoustic set from Earl's Court.
~'Stairway To Heaven' from Earl's Court.
~'Kashmir' from Knebworth.

Presentation in the entrance. HTWWW was almost sold out !!!

Off course not quite creating the same buzz as DVD and HTWWW were released, Mothership and the re-release of TSRTS (both movie and soundtrack) were quite exciting releases.
